To search the source for the "foreigners belive learn language", I firstly went to the GWU library website “http://www.gelman.gwu.edu/”. And then clicked the "Articles & Databases" under the search. After that I chose "Education" option since learning can be classified to education. Next step was to select "Education Abstracts" to prepare for the searching. In the searching fields, I inputed
"language","foreigner" and "beliv*". Search button was clicked and then the results were shown. I chose the following as reference.
Saville, N. (2007, June 8). A global reach for mind and mouth. Times Higher Education Supplement, Retrieved September 16, 2009, from Education Abstracts database.
Sifakis, N., & Sougari, A. (2005, September). Pronunciation Issues and EIL Pedagogy in the Periphery: A Survey of Greek State School Teachers' Beliefs. TESOL Quarterly, 39(3), 467-488. Retrieved September 16, 2009, from Education Abstracts database.
Drewelow, I., & Theobald, A. (2007, Fall). A Comparison of the Attitudes of Learners, Instructors, and Native French Speakers About the Pronunciation of French: An Exploratory Study. Foreign Language Annals, 40(3), 491-520. Retrieved September 16, 2009, from Education Abstracts database.
I chose the these three because I think pronunciation is a very important part of language learning. Many foreigner learners may have such kind of problem: they can read and write the language they learn well but can not speak fluently. So we should take it important as language learning.
